The Daugherty Diaries: March 2014

We got to the hospital right at midnight and had to go through the ER entrance to be admitted. After getting checked-in, then I rushed up to labor and delivery. I find it odd that I still had to sign papers once I got up there...I really just scribbled my name as fast as I could and have NO IDEA what I was signing. I do remember the nurses laughing though. I had texted my doctor on the way to the hospital to let him know I thought the contractions were getting stronger and closer together...boy was he surprised when he walked in and I was already at NINE and ready to have this baby! I think he was shocked I didn't know I was a lot closer to having her than I thought. We went back and forth about an epidural but due to time (or lack thereof...) I had to decline the epidural. That's right...I am now Wonder Woman. Just over an hour after getting to the hospital, our little girl had arrived safe and healthy!

May I introduce you to Savannah Payton Daugherty...

The staff was WONDERFUL!

Savannah had a little fluid in her lungs when she was born so she was whisked off to be checked out pretty quickly after birth. I barely got to hold her and we made the nurses let Payton hold her before they took her. I know they were just doing their job, but I really wanted Payton to get to hold her. I also got a little sick right after, so between her getting checked-out (she was fine and was breathing perfectly!), me being sick, and it was almost 3:00 in the morning...I didn't get to see her until almost 6:00 that morning! She checked-out just fine and was ready for a bottle when she finally had a bath and got to come into my room!

Good morning world! I am 5 hours old!

Sometime after I had Savannah and she was taken away, our parents all went home. It's honestly quite a blur still to this day! That morning, they all came back and brought BIG SISTER with them! Lauren was VERY EXCITED to see her little sister!
